A recent article was published on JSOnline regarding the new sports complex proposed in the City of Oconomowoc.
Diamond Club Entertainment LLC, which previously proposed a baseball complex in the city of Pewaukee and the village of Summit, now has its sights set on a new location in the city of Oconomowoc.
According to Tom Kelenic, who is part of the group proposing the facility, the development would be on nearly 22 acres in Pabst Farms, south of Interstate 94 and directly west of Wisconsin Harley-Davidson, which is at 1280 Blue Ribbon Drive.
The project is scheduled to go to the plan commission at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11. Kelenic said the current property is zoned business park, so it would have to be rezoned for commercial use for the project to proceed.
The proposal calls for a 2,500-seat baseball park and a 60,000-square-foot training center attached to the field. There are 800 parking stalls planned and an additional 100 parking spots for handicap and employees.
Kelenic owns Infinity Fields in Waukesha and the building that the STiKS Academy operates in. Kelenic also built a baseball and soccer complex for the Palmyra-Eagle School District.
“With the NX Level training center and the STikS Academy that I own, we’re finding more and more higher-end baseball players in this area,” Kelenic said. “This is going to allow some of the smaller youth groups that quite frankly can’t afford to spend millions of dollars on a training center to be involved.”
Kelenic said a common wall would be shared by both the training facility and the field.
“The building will have luxury suites that will overlook the field, but it will also have a commercial kitchen,” Kelenic said. “It will not only take care of the outdoor stuff but at the same time be open during the winter.”
The facility would not feature a public restaurant, Kelenic noted.
“It’s going to be open for what we do,” Kelenic said. “Now, you want to come in and grab a pizza on your way home from work, there is a possibility there.”
